'Hood Rank helps you determine where to live by ranking all of the neighbourhoods in Edmonton based on how important the priorities below are to you and your family.

Each neighbourhood in Edmonton has been assigned a rating, at most 5, for each of the below priorities. Clicking "Rank the 'Hoods" will calculate a score for each neighbourhood by adding up these ratings as multiplied by your chosen level of importance.

How important are the following to where you live?
(left = less important, right = more important)
Schools:
This rating is based on on the number of schools within certain distances of the centre of each neighbourhood. Specifically the number of schools within 1 km of the center of the neighbourhood, the number of elementary schools within 1 km, the number of junior high schools within 1.5 km, and the number of high schools within 1.5 km.
Centrality:
This rating is based on how close a neighbourhood is to the centre of Edmonton, specifically a point in the middle of the river, just south of downtown (53.52934, -113.5053).
Grocery Stores:
This rating is based on the distance to the closest grocery store and the number of grocery stores within 1.5 km. It includes the following major grocery store chains: Save-On-Foods, Safeway, Superstore, Sobeys, and Walmart.
Transit:
This rating is based on the distance to the nearest LRT station. A neighbourhood with a nearby transit centre will gain one point on the 5 point rating scale unless it is already at 5 based on the LRT station proximity. Valley Line stations are not included yet.
Libraries:
This rating is based on the distance to the nearest Edmonton Public Library.
River Valley:
This rating is based on the distance to various entry points into the river valley, specifically those on this line of coordinates (not including the straight lines linking the points).
Pools:
This rating is based on the distance to the nearest pool, including City of Edmonton pools, YMCA pools, U of A, NAIT, and MacEwan University.
Toddler Friendly Pools:
This rating is similar to pools (above), but only those that have been determined to be toddler friendly. Toddler friendly pools include A.C.T, Castle Downs, Clareview, Grand Trunk, Kinsmen, Londonderry, Mill Woods, O'Leary, Terwillegar, The Meadows, Castle Downs YMCA, Jamie Platz YMCA, and MacEwan.
Outdoor Water Fun:
This rating is based on the distance to the closest outdoor pool, major spray park, or wading pool and to a lesser degree the distance to the closest minor spray park (also known as a spray deck).
Low Crime:
This rating may not be accurate for all neighbourhoods. Please contact Trevor if you know of any accessable crime data for Edmonton.
